Baby Pyper

Within 5 days of us returning home from our family vacation, we were on the road again.  This trip was a short one to Indianapolis.  What a beautiful drive!  The movie, Hoosiers, was running through my mind as we passed small farm homes with basketball hoops in the driveways.  Oh, how I love that movie.

Our first item of business was to get to see this little miracle and for me to hold a baby again.  Baby Pyper had a really rough start on life.  When she was born, she aspirated too much meconium and didn't breathe for over 12  minutes.  She has since struggled regaining her sucking reflex and her ability to swallow; however, this little fighter is improving all the time.  She has a G-tube to get the majority of her calories, but is now able to get a certain amount of "swallows" of thickened formula everyday.  We are anxiously awaiting the day she can have her G-tube out and live life a little bit more normally.  She is now rewarding her mom and family with smiles and we are so grateful for the prayers offered in their behalf.  She is also the only one of Steve's sisters' children to not cry and be scared of him.  It's so funny how so many of our nieces and nephews are scared of Steve; yet, young strangers seem to want his attention whenever he is with our kids out at the park, or pool, or beach, or wherever. :)

For dinner, we went to eat at Bubs, another DDD restaurant.  Due to the popularity of the place (and it being Saturday night), we were killing time walking around and making a few wishes.

Ryan and Julene had both sides of the family present, so it was a full house.  We are glad we got to meet their newest addition, see their beautiful home, and participate in this special day for Pyper and their family.
