Our family had such a wonderful summer vacation!!! It was great leaving our responsibilities and going to enjoy each other's company. I thought our company would get old after nearly 5000 miles, but the kids were terrific. Our first day was a non-stop 15 hour drive to Denver, Colorado where our lovely friends let us crash for 6 hours. We did hit a DDD diner, Amato's, that's only open for breakfast and lunch in Omaha, NE. Steve had their home-made sausage and sweet pepper omelet that was featured on the show, and really enjoyed it.
The following day was another 11 hour driving day; however, the scenery was so different. I actually enjoyed driving through Colorado (Nebraska--not so much). The mountains and trees, streams, rivers, etc. were gorgeous! We then took a little detour over to Arches National Park in Utah and loved getting out to stretch our legs amongst such natural majestic rocks. Below is Balanced Rock.

The above picture needs a little explanation...One of Steve's roommates (Brett Roberts) at BYU now creates these short films on Youtube called Kid History. While admiring the arches, the kids thought they recognized "Kyle" an actor in one of these films. It really was him! They were so excited that they'd met a celebrity! When I asked him if we could get his picture with the boys, he just laughed (along with his wife who said it happens all the time) and gave us inside info that Kid History #7 is almost done!!!
A few hours later, we made it to Monument Valley. It was really breathtaking and understandable as to why the Native Americans view it as sacred ground. Why else would God create these amazing formations?

After deciding not to enter the tribal land (and pay $56 to drive around), we took pictures at the edge and it started to rain! The rain was barely hitting the dirt below us; however, it created 2 gorgeous rainbows! Here is one of my shots--can you believe I took this?!

Your pictures are so beautiful! I can't believe you guys met Kyle (can't wait to show my kids - they love kid history) Didn't know you had a connection!ha! Well, looks like you guys are doing great and enjoying your summer! How was Six Flags? Did you drive through Vegas without stopping? JK!
So pretty! We are doing Grand, Bryce and Zions Canyons for spring break next year and your pictures are getting me excited! I can't believe Braxton is taller than you! Getting so big! Can't wait to see more.
