Locks of Love

Emma did it! She donated 12 inches of her hair to Locks of Love.
For months, she has known that she was going to be Rapunzel for Halloween and then she wanted to donate her hair to Locks of Love. She was a little disappointed when I wasn't prepared to take her Tuesday, November 1st to get it cut. I made her wait until Friday.

She was SO excited! My mom was devastated, since Emma's hair is one of her defining features. I was anxious not knowing if she was going to be happy after she cut it. She never regretted her decision for one second.

Lizzie was going to try to donate her hair as well, but it was one inch too short. The hairstylist felt that the remaining hair would not be long enough to make her look cute and girly. Lizzie will wait and get her own special day to donate hers in a few months. This news was supposed to help her feel better, but the tears never stopped. I was grateful Grandma was there to comfort Lizzie, since she needed someone to herself.

Here's Emma with the final product! She looks darling! In fact, Carter's teacher has a daughter who did the exact thing--was Rapunzel for Halloween then donated her hair the next day. In talking with her, she said she feels Emma's new hairstyle actually fits her bubbly personality better. Probably true. It's definitely easier to take care of, but I miss the styles that I now cannot do on her hair. Oh, well. Emma is so happy and can hardly keep her hands out of it!

Emma's Kindergarten Musical

Emma had a lot of fun singing in her musical "Kindergarten Rocks" on Friday, March 18th. She had quite the fan base, since the school allowed Evan and Carter to get out of class to watch her performance with Lizzie and me. I especially enjoyed a particular song as it was sung with sign language. Being an interpreter for a deaf couple at our church services every Sunday, it warms my heart to see my daughter signing and singing. I think both languages set to music allows the message to be communicated on an even deeper level. Maybe it's just me. Nevertheless, she got me choked up on this song--when I wasn't giggling with my boys over her sweet friend who sings tons of volume, but is as the American Idol judges would say, "a little pitchy." Kindergarten kids are so cute!

My Two Princesses

Picture Perfect!

Last week was picture day at Emma's preschool. She was fretting over what she was going to wear since she doesn't have many warmer clothes in a 6x! Yes, my 4 year old is super tall! We went to her favorite store, TJMaxx, and found this darling sweater. Of course, I had picked one with bright colored stripes and a hood; however, this was for her picture (she told me) and so she should get to choose the one she wants. Right? So, we got the brown one with the flower and butterfly--not the striped sweater. Oh, well. She insisted on going to bed with foam curlers to make sure her curls were really curly. Lizzie, not to be left out, also slept in her curlers. They looked so sweet on their pillows with their curlers! I wish I had a picture of that! Anyways...the morning of the pictures right before we loaded in the car to head to school, we ran in the backyard for a few quick shots just in case I don't like the school ones. These 2 girls were in perfect form, striking poses everywhere I turned. They are true girls!

As I was getting them ready, I was in awe over their beauty and kept counting my blessings that I have such gorgeous girls! Steve and I were nervous when we discovered we were having girls. Steve, especially, worried about them getting his barrel-chest or jowels, I worried about my many imperfections that I could pass down (I won't mention specifics ;>) I truly am grateful for these fun, little feminine creatures that add a ton of sugar and spice to our family!
Lizzie and those baby blues!

Emma's favorite pose
Lizzie cracks me up in this one. She's such a hoot!

Lizzie called Emma's name, she looked, and this is what I got! After I took the picture, they couldn't stop giggling at each other and almost fell off of the wall they were standing on!

Singin' and Dancin'

On Thursday, Emma had her spring preschool program. It was darling! Emma was so excited to sing for us on the stage. Between songs, she was energetically bouncing her legs so high, I was nervous she was going to kick the cute girl in front of her. Steve surprised us by coming; thus, the cute wave interruption in the middle of the song.

Later that day we received some rain. As I was rushing everyone in from outside, parking all of the bikes in the garage, etc., Emma asked if she could dance in the rain. How do I say no to an innocent request like that? So, I grabbed my camera to capture the moves this girl had to show me. What a cutie!
